Wuff, I've not been back on this site in the better part of a decade and I don't recognize any of it. I wonder how many of y'all still remember me. Since then, I've graduated college, found a job, and moved out on my own. My paintbrushes lay unused, my rock polisher is gathering dust in my parents closet, and I haven't written anything more flowery than an instruction manual lately. So what the heck am I doing back here?
Well, turns out living alone in the middle of a pandemic can be mind-numbingly dull and depressing. This last week I tried to escape from the routine by joining my family for a little vacation. I didn't want to be without some technology, so I grabbed an old laptop that I thought was still working and brought it along. I found it filled with the pages of a story I'd long since abandoned and forgotten.
I read it. The characters were overpowered, the plot was unclear, and parts of it were just cringey as all hell. And worst of all, it stops after thirty chapters. But somewhere in there, I thought I saw a story worth telling...if only there was someone willing to tell it.
So, I started writing again...from the beginning. Will I get any further along than I did last time? We'll see.
